Central Piedmont Music presents Orphée et Euridice
Gluck’s second adaptation of the Orpheus mythological legend took place in Paris, France in 1774. In our present day, the first version, which premiered in Vienna in1962 with a castrato in the title role, now performed with a mezzo or countertenor, is more often performed. Due to the additional beautiful vocal and dance music and also the title role being performed by a full lyric tenor voice, CPCC Opera Theatre has chosen to produce the Paris Version. The presence of dance is strong in both versions, but especially in the second version, and the additional music is stunning. CPCC Opera Theatre is pleased to be collaborating with CPCC Dance Theatre and Nouveau Süd to bring you this ‘feast for the senses’ known as Orphée et Euridice.
Student tickets can be purchased at the Box Office. Charlotte-area students are $5 with a student ID and all CPCC students are free with a current ID. All seating is subject to availability.
