O.P. and W.T. Crowder began building a legacy when they founded Crowder Construction Company on July 1, 1947. Nearly 60 years later, the company, which is headquartered in Charlotte, is known as one of the most respected general contractors in the Southeast. To celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary, Crowder Construction recently made a generous gift to Central Piedmont Community College to begin the O.P. and W.T. Crowder Construction Institute at CPCC’s Harper Campus located on Arrowood Road. Otis Crowder, President of Crowder Construction Company, and Bill Crowder, Chief Operating Officer, envisioned this endowment as a way to honor the memory of their fathers who started the company.

The gift will create an endowment to support the new Construction Institute at CPCC as well as endow a scholarship fund for students training for careers in the construction industry. CPCC’s Construction Institute program allows students to get a head start on a career in Charlotte’s rapidly growing construction industry. The Institute offers courses in all of the building trades programs.

”We know how important CPCC is to our community and the region, specifically to the construction industry,” states Otis Crowder, President of Crowder Construction Company. “This opportunity to develop a long-term relationship with CPCC, which will benefit students pursuing careers in construction, is an exciting way to serve our community and to celebrate our fathers’ legacy.”

”Over the years, Crowder’s success has depended on the quality and character of its employees, as well as the growth of Charlotte and this region,” states Bill Crowder, Chief Operating Officer of Crowder Construction Company. “This gift will allow our company to give back to a community that means so much to us and our family.”

Central Piedmont Community College’s Foundation will work with Crowder Construction Company to ensure the funds enhance the new institute and support students who are seeking financial support in this area. “We are extremely thankful to Crowder Construction Company for their recent gift,” states Dr. Tony Zeiss, President of CPCC. “These funds will allow us to continue our efforts to provide cutting-edge training for construction students. Crowder Construction Company is well-known as a leader in the construction industry and a supporter of this community. We’re proud to be able to partner with them in this initiative.”
